Columbia Mountain Open Network Installs PacketFront's Fully Automated Broadband Solution

STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(CCNMatthews - Jun 7, 2005) -

PacketFront, a leading provider of Open Access FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) and broadband aggregation solutions, today announced the Columbia Mountain Open Network (CMON) has completed its first installation of PacketFront's hardware and software broadband solution. Marking PacketFront's successful entry in the North American broadband market, this installation is the first of many planned for the next several years for the CMON network.

PacketFront began North American operations in September 2004 with the opening of its regional office in Nashua, NH. Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, PacketFront also has other regional offices around the world in Korea, Japan, and Norway.

The CMON initiative seeks to implement advanced open access telecommunication solutions across a mountainous, rural region of approximately 80,000 kms(squared). The initiative addresses both backhaul and local deployment solutions that vary amongst the estimated 175 communities located in the region. The first installation of PacketFront equipment has been undertaken in a pilot project located in the Municipality of Sparwood.

"PacketFront's automated Open Access broadband solution will help us achieve our goal of facilitating the creation of a sustainable, open-access, advanced telecommunications network," stated Dan McCarthy, CEO for CMON. "They have a proven track record in successfully implementing sustainable Open Access networks, and we needed a partner that knows our business and market as well as we do. PacketFront is that company."

"We're very excited for our first of many North American installations," stated Martin Thunman, CEO for PacketFront. "Our solutions are getting a great reception in the North American market, and we look forward to replicating our success in other regions of the world in North America as the market continues to grow."

PacketFront's Automated Broadband solution can be seen at this year's Supercomm 2005 exhibition in Chicago, IL, June 7-9, in booth #69066.
