Commissioner of Canada Elections Announces the Laying of Canada Elections Act Charges

GATINEAU, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - Oct. 2, 2014) - Pursuant to a decision by the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Commissioner of Canada Elections, Mr. Yves Côté, has announced that his office has laid two charges under the Canada Elections Act, a federal statute.

The charges were filed on October 2, 2014 in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

David Del Mastro and Tori-Lynn Manchulenko are charged with:

• knowingly concealing or attempting to conceal the identity of the source of a contribution, contrary to paragraph 405.2(2)(a) of the Act, thereby committing an offence contrary to paragraph 497(3)(f.15) of the Act;
  
  
• knowingly circumventing the campaign contribution limit for an individual donor set out in paragraph 405(1)(a.1) of the Act, contrary to paragraph 405.2(1)(a) of the Act, thereby committing an offence contrary to paragraph 497(3)(f.14) of the Act.
