Communities Rally Around Nudura's Green School Construction Technology

BARRIE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - October 12, 2009) - The first net zero public school broke ground, featuring Nudura's insulated concrete forms (ICF). The Richardsville Elementary School is the first school in Canada to benefit from complete use of the ICF technology.

Using some of the most energy efficient building materials available on the market, net zero is accomplished when a given building structure limits its energy usage to no more than what is provided via on location renewable energy sources. This innovative technology has already helped school districts across the United States reduce overhead by significantly lowering energy costs.

The popularity of green school construction has risen in the last years, with builders looking for ways to minimize the environmental footprint of school construction, but the advances are not limited to ICF alone. Other environmentally sound goods will be used in construction, including R-38 rated super-insulated roofing, active day lighting, occupancy and motion sensors, low-maintenance finishes, CO2 monitoring, geothermal HVAC, wireless building technology, green kitchen management strategies and a 300Kw photovoltaic array.

But ICF schools effect more than the health of the planet. The buildings themselves are teaching tools for students about the many ways in which they can live and learn without contributing to the ongoing pollution of the planet. Other enhancements of the school include a geothermal, water conservation and solar hallway to facilitate the students' hands-on learning process.

"It's very exciting to be a part of the Richardsville Elementary School, the first Net Zero School in the nation. According to the Warren County School District they appreciate working with Nudura because we bring so much to the table including the speed of construction for a super-insulated wall system that provides energy efficiency and a safe learning environment for children," adds Martin Clark, Commercial Sales Representative at Nudura.

The Nudura Corporation's eco-friendly insulate concrete forms are putting schoolchildren ahead of the learning curve when it comes to sustainable living.
