Community Garden Grants Available; Two Weeks Left to Submit Application

Gardenburger Will Award Grants of up to $10,000 to 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organizations


BATTLE CREEK, MI--(Marketwire - April 28, 2009) - Today, demand for participation in community gardens is at an all-time high, and those involved are learning the importance of healthy eating through the cultivation of fresh produce. To help communities establish and grow the community gardens in their neighborhoods, Gardenburger® brand veggie products is pleased to announce the formation of its Community Garden Grants Program.

  • The Gardenburger Community Garden Grants Program will provide necessary support to 501(c)3 non-profit organizations looking to create or sustain a community gardening project.
  • A representative may apply for a grant on behalf of his/her non-profit organization, and can request up to $10,000 in grant funding for a community garden activity that will provide community residents with improved quality of life that comes from access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Organizations interested in being considered for a Gardenburger Community Garden Grant should visit www.gardenburger.com/Grants.aspx to download the application form and view the terms and conditions.
  • All completed grant applications -- which include the application form, a copy of the organization's 501(c)3 non-profit letter from the IRS, the statement of purpose for the proposed project, the line-item budget for the proposed project, and support materials -- must be received by May 15, 2009.
  • Grant applicants must be U.S citizens or legal residents, 21 years of age or older at the time of entry, and employed by, a member of, or affiliated with the 501(c)3 non-profit organization they're nominating. Only registered 501(c)3 non-profit organizations are eligible to receive a Gardenburger Community Garden Grant.
