ADSTOCK, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 16, 2013) - Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, the Honourable Christian Paradis, Member of Parliament for Mégantic-L'Érable, Minister of International Development and Minister for La Francophonie, today announced that the Association des résidents du Lac-du-Huit has been granted funding to renovate and modernize the recreational facilities it operates in the municipality of Adstock.
"By supporting well-defined local projects like this one being carried out by the Association des résidents du Lac-du-Huit, the Government of Canada is helping improve the quality of life in communities and strengthen the regional economy," said Minister Paradis.
The federal funding will enable the Association to renovate its recreational pavilion, modernize its playground and resurface its tennis courts. These improvements are aimed at increasing use of the recreational complex.
This assistance, granted in the form of a $59,000 non-repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).
The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec, where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure.
