Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund: Completion and Inauguration of New Facilities for Sercovie Community Centre

SHERBROOKE, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Nov. 25, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, hails the inauguration today of the newly improved facilities of Sercovie Inc. This event marks the completion of major expansion work on the building.

"Our government chose to fund the renovation of the Sercovie community centre because this project will help improve the quality of life of Sherbrooke residents while creating six new jobs in the region," said Minister Lebel.

The population of Sherbrooke is now able to take full advantage of modern facilities adapted to its needs.

Information:

It will be recalled that last March, the Government of Canada announced $351,250 in non-repayable financial assistance, granted through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF), for the execution of this project.

The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec, where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure.
