THETFORD MINES, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - May 15, 2013) - Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, the Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry and Minister of State (Agriculture), today announced that the Corporation de développement communautaire des Appalaches, région de Thetford, has been granted financial assistance for the renovation of Centre communautaire Marie-Agnès-Desrosiers.

"By funding this project of the Corporation de développement communautaire des Appalaches, région de Thetford, the Government of Canada is fulfilling its commitment to help improve the quality of life in our communities," said Minister Paradis.

The project involves repairing the roof and ventilation, heating and electrical systems and renovating the common rooms of the Marie-Agnès-Desrosiers community centre. Once the work is complete, the building, which is currently outdated, will be able to be used to its full potential.

"Our government remains focused on four priorities, as outlined by the Prime Minister, that Canadians care most about: their families, the safety of our streets and communities, their pride in being a citizen of this country, and of course, their personal financial security," Minister Paradis concluded.
