Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund: Government of Canada Funds Alma Recreational Harbour Project


ALMA, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 22, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that Tourisme Alma Lac-Saint-Jean has been granted financial assistance to carry out various infrastructure work.

"By supporting this modernization project of the Alma Recreational Harbour, the Government of Canada is fulfilling its commitment to help improve the quality of life in our communities," said Minister Lebel.

Among other things, Tourisme Alma Lac-Saint-Jean intends to add 36 quay berths and new parking spaces, upgrade the reception building, landscape the grounds, widen Du Quai Avenue to facilitate the passage of boats, install washroom facilities as well as a gas station.

This assistance, granted in the form of a $304,995 non-repayable contribution, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure.
