Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund: Government of Canada Funds Modernization of Le Rigolet Centre

MÉTABETCHOUAN-LAC-À-LA-CROIX, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 16, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that the Société des loisirs de Métabetchouan-Lac-à-la-Croix has been granted financial assistance to carry out an infrastructure improvement project at the Le Rigolet centre.

"By supporting this project of the Société des loisirs de Métabetchouan-Lac-à-la-Croix, the Government of Canada is fulfilling its commitment to help improve the quality of life in our communities," said Minister Lebel.

The organization will use the funding from the Government of Canada to expand and renovate the main building of the Le Rigolet centre in order to improve the functionality of several services available to the community. This will include upgrading the facility's sanitation services, adding storage spaces, a cold room and cloakroom, and relocating its kitchen and bar.

This assistance, granted in the form of a $500,000 non-repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

The CIIF has a nationwide budget of a $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure.

The funding from Canada Economic Development is contingent on compliance with the Government of Quebec's funding allocation process and existing environmental laws and regulations.
