Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund: Government of Canada Funds Reconstruction of Sainte-Francoise Community Centre

SAINTE-FRANÇOISE, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 3, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that the Municipality of Sainte-Françoise has been granted financial assistance to rebuild its community centre.

"By supporting this project of the Municipality of Sainte-Françoise, our Government is fulfilling its commitment to help improve the quality of life in our communities," said Minister Lebel.

With the multi-purpose hall that previously served as a community centre destroyed by fire in April 2012, the Municipality was in urgent need of an adequate infrastructure for its citizens.

The contribution from Canada Economic Development will be used for construction work, interior outfitting and service installation.

Information:

This assistance, granted in the form of a $335,457 non-repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec, where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure.
