Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund: Government of Canada Lends Financial Support to Laval Socio-Cultural and Sports Centre


LAVAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Nov. 13, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that the organization Place des aînés de Laval has been granted funding for a community infrastructure improvement project.

"By supporting the renovation of this Laval community centre, the Government of Canada is fulfilling its commitment to help improve the quality of life in our communities," said Minister Lebel.

A community organization open to the general public, Place des aînés de Laval will use this financial support to modernize its community infrastructure and update its over 20-year-old electrical, air conditioning and heating systems.

This assistance, granted in the form of three non-repayable financial contributions totalling $284,000, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec, where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure.
