Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund: Government of Canada Lends Support to OEuvre des terrains de jeux de Saint-Flavien

SAINT-FLAVIEN, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 20, 2013) - Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, Jacques Gourde, Member of Parliament for Lotbinière-Chutes-de-la-Chaudière, today hailed the completion of improvement work on the soccer field in the municipality of Saint-Flavien, a project made possible by funding from the Government of Canada to Œuvre des terrains de jeux de Saint-Flavien.

"By supporting this improvement project of the Saint-Flavien soccer field, the Government of Canada is fulfilling its commitment to improve the quality of life in our communities," said Mr. Gourde.

Œuvre des terrains de jeux de Saint-Flavien used this funding to renovate and improve the safety of the municipal soccer field. The work involved installing a fence around and expanding the entrance to the park housing the field, purchasing equipment and setting up bleachers.

This assistance, granted in the form of a $14,000 non-repayable financial contribution, was awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec, where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure.
