Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund-Government of Canada Lends Support to Saint-Leon-de-Standon's Organisation des Terrains de Jeux

SAINT-LÉON-DE-STANDON, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 9, 2013) - Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, the Honourable Steven Blaney, MP for Lévis-Bellechasse and Les Etchemins and Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, today announced that Saint-Léon-de-Standon's Organisation des terrains de jeux (O.T.J.) has been granted funding for the modernization of the municipality's community centre and outdoor recreational facilities.

"By funding this project of the Saint-Léon-de-Standon Organisation des terrains de jeux, our government is fulfilling its commitment to help improve the quality of life in our communities," said Minister Blaney.

The mission of the O.T.J. is to organize recreational and sporting activities for the population of Saint-Léon-de-Standon. To that end, the non-profit organization is responsible for the management of the municipality's community centre.

The funding from Canada Economic Development will be used, in the first phase of the project, to expand, renovate and reconfigure the community centre. In the second phase, it will serve for the refurbishment of outdoor facilities, including the municipality's ball and soccer fields, skating rink and canoe and kayak launch site.
