Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund: Government of Canada Supports Renovation of Saint-Onesime-d'Ixworth Skating Rink


SAINT-ONÉSIME-D'IXWORTH, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - July 3, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, announces financial assistance for the modernization of the skating rink in the municipality of Saint-Onésime-d'Ixworth.

"By funding this project to renovate Saint-Onésime-d'Ixworth skating rink, the Government of Canada is fulfilling its commitment to help improve the quality of life in our communities," said Minister Lebel.

The project involves upgrading the municipality's outdoor skating rink so that it can be converted to serve for other sports activities during the summer months. The work involves resurfacing the rink, installing recycled aluminium and plastic boards, laying a concrete sidewalk around the periphery and setting up tennis and basketball courts within the rink area.

Once completed, this project will ensure that residents of Saint-Onésime-d'Ixworth have access to a new quality recreational facility and a living environment that encourages the municipality's youth to engage in sports and physical activity.

This assistance, granted in the form of a $52,486 non-repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).
