Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund: Government of Canada Supports Societe de developpement economique durable de Saint-Simeon

SAINT-SIMÉON, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Aug. 8, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that the Société de développement économique durable de Saint-Siméon has been granted funding to carry out a community sports infrastructure improvement project.

"By supporting this project of the Société de développement économique durable de Saint-Siméon, the Government of Canada is fulfilling its commitment to help improve the quality of life in our communities," said Minister Lebel.

The organization will use the funding from the Government of Canada to build a multipurpose sports surface to serve for the practice of both summer activities (such as tennis and ball hockey) and winters activities (such as skating and hockey). The planned work will include the excavation and compacting of the sports surface and the installation of new boards.

This assistance, granted in the form of a $98,410 non-repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure.
