Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund: Le Centre communautaire Pierre-Lemaire Receives Funding from Government of Canada

DRUMMONDVILLE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Feb. 19, 2013) - Jacques Gourde, Member of Parliament for Lotbinière-Chutes-de-la-Chaudière, today announced, on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, that Le Centre communautaire Pierre-Lemaire has been granted financial assistance to upgrade its facilities.

"By supporting the Pierre-Lemaire community centre's renovation project, our Government is delivering on its commitment to improve the quality of life in our communities," said MP Gourde.

Le Centre communautaire Pierre-Lemaire is a non-profit organization that provides Drummondville residents with a variety of education and leisure services and activities. The contribution from Canada Economic Development will be used to renovate and rebuild the reception area and certain common rooms.

This financial assistance, granted in the form of a $21,000 non-repayable contribution, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure. The 2nd call for proposals is currently open; interested organizations may submit their proposals until April 30, 2013.
