Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund: Municipality of Saint-Edmond-les-Plaines Receives Funding From Government of Canada

SAINT-EDMOND-LES-PLAINES, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Feb. 21, 2013) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that the municipality of Saint-Edmond-les-Plaines has been granted financial assistance to improve and modernize its community centre.

"By supporting Saint-Edmond-les-Plaines's project to renovate its community centre, our Government is delivering on its commitment to improve the quality of life in our communities," said Minister Lebel.

The project involves upgrading and expanding the municipal community centre by replacing the flooring, windows, doors, exterior walls, and ventilation and electricity equipment. In addition, the roof and washrooms will be rebuilt and excavation work carried out to construct a new basement.

This financial assistance, granted in the form of a $136,031 non-repayable contribution, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure. The 2nd call for proposals is currently open; interested organizations may submit their proposals until April 30, 2013.
