Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund: Parish Municipality of Saint-Jules Receives Funding from Government of Canada

SAINT-JULES, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - May 23, 2013) - Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, the Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism), today announced that the Parish Municipality of Saint-Jules has been granted financial assistance for improvements to its community centre.

"By supporting this project of the Parish Municipality of Saint-Jules, the Government of Canada is fulfilling its commitment to help improve the quality of life in our communities, " said Minister of State Bernier.

The project involves refreshing an existing community facility. Work at the multipurpose Saint-Jules community centre consists of replacing several windows. This improvement will benefit all Saint-Jules residents who frequent the centre by providing a safe and attractive meeting place for their social and recreational activities.

"Our Government remains focused on four priorities, as outlined by the Prime Minister, that Canadians care most about: their families, the safety of our streets and communities, their pride in being a citizen of this country, and of course, their personal financial security," concluded the Minister of State.

Information:

This assistance, granted in the form of a $76,063 non-repayable contribution, has been awarded through the Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

The CIIF has a nationwide budget of $150 million over two years, including $31.2 million to be invested in Quebec where the Agency is responsible for its administration. The Fund aims to support the rehabilitation and improvement, including expansion, of existing community infrastructure.
