Companies Rely on ScriptLogic's Desktop Management Solutions to Avoid Daylight Saving Time Crises

Desktop Authority Ideal Solution for Configuring and Preparing Machines as Clocks Change Earlier This Year

BOCA RATON, FL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 26, 2007 -- ScriptLogic® Corporation (www.scriptlogic.com), a leader in network administration software for Microsoft® Windows®-based networks, today announced that its customer base will use the company's Desktop Authority® and Patch Authority Plus™ solutions to avoid issues related to the earlier start of Daylight Saving Time this year. Desktop Authority can manage the distribution and installation of patches to desktops for applications and operating systems, where they are available, to remedy the issue. ScriptLogic solutions can manage the deployment of changes to registry entries for systems where no patch is available.

With the passage of the Energy Policy Act in August 2005, Congress moved the start of Daylight Saving Time to the second Sunday in March, roughly three weeks earlier than previously. Computers need to be configured to recognize the new start date. Otherwise, any application relying on time stamping, including scheduling software, travel applications, security packages and back-up routines, calendar applications or other automated maintenance, would be impacted as the scheduled processes would no longer run on time.

"This is no Y2K, but when you are facing numerous machines and a long list of other pressing IT issues, the Daylight Saving Time problem can be onerous," said Nick Cavalancia, vice president of product marketing management at ScriptLogic. "Our Desktop Authority product can make fixing the problem across an enterprise quick and easy. The product has automated the processes necessary to universally solve the issue without involvement from the IT staff. In addition, our Patch Authority Plus solution can quickly help patch any servers that require updating."

Desktop Authority is ScriptLogic's award-winning desktop management platform that offers complete control of the Windows desktop lifecycle, from machine imaging to day-to-day configuration and drive mapping, to migration to a new machine. IT personnel use Desktop Authority to secure Windows networks and reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) with functionality to proactively configure, manage, support and inventory desktops from a central location.

The product can assist in removing the Daylight Saving Time issue in one of two ways:

-- For machines where a patch is available, Desktop Authority has a patch
distribution module that allows for the distribution and installation of
the patch. The IT administrator has granular control on how to distribute
the patch and can specify which machines to affect, based on a wide variety
of factors, including machine location. The patch distribution can be
scheduled at any time or at logon or logoff.

-- For machines where no patch is available, and registry settings
require changing, IT pros can use Desktop Authority to change the registry
settings and then deploy those changes across the enterprise quickly and
effectively. From a central location, administrators can configure Desktop
Authority so that any enterprise machine receives the new settings at logon
or logoff or at some pre-determined interval.

Customers can also rely on Patch Authority Plus, separate from Desktop Authority, to centrally manage updating servers requiring the Daylight Saving Time patch. Administrators can closely control distribution and installation of the patch. Patches have been made available for the most current operating systems, such as Windows Vista, XP or 2003. Older operating systems, such as Windows 2000 or NT, do not benefit from a patch.
