Compassion Canada is pleased to announce that Ian Lawson has been named the ministry's next Board Chair. Rev. Lawson is the Lead Pastor of the Evangelical Free Church of Lethbridge, Alberta, where he has served since 1998.

"Ian's rich governance experience coupled with his passion for ministry makes him an ideal leader for the next phase of Compassion's Board," says Dr. Barry Slauenwhite, President of Compassion Canada.

Drawn to Compassion's desire to fulfill the biblical mandate to care for the poor, Rev. Lawson brings a unique perspective to the Board as a leader in a growing and dynamic church with previous experience in theological education. The father of five grown children, he and his wife enjoy using their free time to visit with their growing extended family.

Compassion International has partnered with the local church in the developing world to bring an eternal solution to poverty into the lives of children since 1952. Today, Compassion Canada and its international partners work with over 5000 churches in 26 nations to bring care to more than one million children and families.
