Completed Infrastructure Projects in the Northwest Territories

Projects made possible by contributions from the Government of Canada

BEHCHOKO, NORTHWEST TERRITORIES--(Marketwired - July 4, 2016) -

Modern and up-to-date community infrastructure helps ensure that Canadians live the quality of life that they want and expect. Aimed at improving municipal water systems and providing better community services, two such infrastructure improvement projects have recently been completed in Behchokö.

The first - an improved water treatment plant - involved the installation of a wood pellet boiler heating system. Not only will the new heating system have long-term health benefits for the residents by providing a cleaner energy source for the area, it will also reduce Behchokö's operating and maintenance costs.

Behchokö is also benefitting from a new community office, located in the Khon Go Cho Complex. The new administrative space includes a large boardroom, five offices, and a public reception area. The 445.9 square-meter community office is now better positioned to support the delivery of services to the residents and to promote economic growth that will help the middle class grow and prosper.
