Comprehensive Program Thanks Canadian Forces Members and Families for their Contributions and Dedication

Canadian Forces Appreciation Program Launched

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 23, 2011) - Today, the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence announced the launch of the Canadian Forces Appreciation Program, the official discount program of the Canadian Forces and the primary means for its members to find savings on a variety of goods and services.

"This new initiative is being put in place to enhance the morale and welfare of our Canadian Forces, the Department of National Defence employees and their families," said Minister MacKay. "Many organizations have extended exclusive offers to our members of the Defence team in support of the hard work that they do everyday."

International, national and local industry partners have joined the program in recognition of the sacrifices, commitment and dedication of military members and their families. Full, detailed information about the web-based program may be found at: www.CFappreciation.ca. The program offers eight distinct categories including: Accommodations, Attractions, Dining, Entertainment, Home & Lifestyle, Shops & Services, Transportation and Travel.

"This is an exciting time for our Canadian Forces community," said Brigadier-General (Retired) Dave Martin, Director General Personnel and Family Support Services. "Not only does the Canadian Forces Appreciation Program provide an outlet for corporate Canada to show its support for our troops and the contributions they continue to make to our country, it also offers great opportunities for the members of our community to partake in wonderful new activities and vacation destinations."

The program continues to grow and new partners are added on a daily basis. Through the R&R Club portion of the program, members have access to over 3500 vacation properties in more than 80 countries worldwide.

The total Canadian Forces community is significant and consists of over one million people. Participation in the program allows companies to gain access to this community as well as allows the Canadian military families to be thanked for the sacrifices that they have willingly made.

One Community, One Million Strong.
