Compugen a Canadian Leader in Deployment of Microsoft Windows Server 2008-New Case Studies by Microsoft Feature Compugen IT Implementations for the Government of Alberta and PCL Constructors

RICHMOND HILL, ONTARIO and TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 20, 2008) - Compugen Inc., a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and a leading Canadian Microsoft Large Account Reseller (LAR), has been featured in two Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Case Studies, involving PCL Constructors Inc. and the Government of Alberta. Both organizations, longstanding customers of Compugen's, were early adopters of the new server technology that is already delivering improved security, enhanced branch office computing, better deployment and management, as well as new server virtualization capabilities.

Using hardware from Hewlett-Packard and Intel, and technical expertise from Compugen, Microsoft technology was piloted within both PCL Constructors and the Alberta Government. Both organizations continue to use the technology on a number of servers in production environments for protecting certain core assets by enforcing compliance with network access policy through system scanning and on-line remediation using a powerful security feature of Windows Server 2008, Network Access Protection (NAP). They are in the process of testing other features.

In addition to benefiting from NAP, PCL Constructors is making use of Windows Deployment Services, a feature of Windows Server 2008 that makes a compelling case for itself in environments where rapid upgrades to Windows Vista™ desktop operating system and Microsoft Office System 2007 are desired. For example, PCL was able to report the upgrade of 72 workstations in only 12 minutes in an initial trial, and has begun a large-scale upgrade that is already realizing significant savings of staff time over existing methods.

Over the past year, working alongside the Microsoft team in Redmond, Compugen's Microsoft team completed extensive training on the Microsoft 2008 products. As a result, Compugen has already been able to help a number of its customers, including those featured by Microsoft's Case Studies, quickly realize significant benefits from Windows Server 2008 as part of Microsoft's Early Adopter Program.

At the recent worldwide media briefing in Redmond, where Microsoft presented the capabilities and benefits of Windows Server 2008, Compugen was the only Canadian partner invited to speak to the media about its experiences working with Windows Sever 2008 on these early adopter projects.

"The early adopter work we've conducted over the past year has demonstrated that Windows Server 2008 can help our customers fill painful gaps in their IT infrastructure in areas such as security, deployment, management, compliance and branch office functionality," says Marty Grosh, Director of Enterprise Services at Compugen. "Our customers have also commented that Windows Server 2008 is fulfilling Microsoft's "better together" promise of delivering tremendous value when used in conjunction with Windows Vista™."

At the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference, Compugen received the Microsoft 2007 Partner of the Year Award in the Information Worker Solutions, Office Systems Desktop Deployment category. This was just the latest in a string of awards Compugen has received from Microsoft that, in 2007, also included Microsoft IMPACT Awards for the Compugen Pathways Program and for Advanced Infrastructure Solutions around Microsoft Exchange migration. The awards recognize the quality and success of Compugen's work in helping customers leverage Microsoft technologies to solve difficult business problems. Compugen has previously been recognized as Microsoft's Top Canadian Large Account Reseller for customer satisfaction.
