ComputerCare Selected by Apple for Groundbreaking iPhone Repair Pilot Program

ComputerCare is one of only three ASPs permitted by Apple to manage iPhone repair and calibration completely onsite

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 5, 2017) - ComputerCare, a world-class hardware repair provider for warranty and non-warranty computers, mobile devices and servers, today announced that it has been selected by Apple as one of only three ASPs nationwide to participate in a new pilot program that will allow it to manage iPhone repair and calibration completely onsite. This will enable ComputerCare to drastically speed up repair times for customers, while providing them with an officially recognized alternative to the Apple Store for hardware problem diagnosis and repair. As part of this pilot program, ComputerCare has received a specialized and proprietary calibration machine from Apple to ensure that repairs are fully compliant with Apple specifications.

"ComputerCare was chosen for this pilot program because of our performance and track record of exceptional customer service," said Georgia Rittenberg, President of ComputerCare. "We already manage iPhone repairs at our facilities, but because of the devices' specialized security features, the current process requires them to be shipped to Apple for final testing and calibration before being returned to customers. Having a calibration machine onsite helps us to remove that extra step in the process and dramatically reduces turnaround times. We are thrilled to be partnering with Apple in this pilot program, and expect it to result in a huge improvement in customer satisfaction."

Every Apple Store currently offers same-day iPhone repairs; however, it is often difficult to get a convenient appointment time, and the distance to an Apple Store may be prohibitive for some customers. This new program allows ComputerCare to deliver the same high level of service and repair quality as Apple's own retail stores, and ensures that customers have access to a service that does not risk further damaging the device or voiding its warranty. For business customers in the Bay Area, ComputerCare even goes one step further than Apple by providing free pick-up and delivery for device repairs.

Once a ComputerCare technician has completed an iPhone repair, the phone is placed inside Apple's proprietary calibration machine. This machine ensures that the iPhone's 3D touch and multi-touch connectivity functionality meet Apple's strict specifications and security requirements. This vital step in the process also reduces post-repair failures due to possible multi-touch issues. Every model in the iPhone range from the 6s (launched in 2015) is compatible with the calibration process, which takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.

"This is truly a win-win-win," continued Rittenberg. "iPhone users benefit from same-day repairs rather than the traditional mail-in option that can take up to three-to-five business days. Apple benefits by being able to give its customers more repair options, and reduce wait times at its retail stores. And ComputerCare benefits by offering customers a level of quality and convenience that puts it on a par with Apple Stores."
