Computing for Less Than $100 to Debut at CES Las Vegas

NComputing X550 Virtual Desktop Wins CES Innovation Award

REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwire - December 19, 2008) - NComputing, the leading provider of ultra low-cost computing, today announced that the public debut of the new NComputing X550 will be at the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), taking place January 8-11 in Las Vegas. The X550 virtual desktop shatters the $100 computing barrier and has been recognized by CES as an Innovations 2009 Design and Engineering Award honoree. The X550 will be shown at the NComputing booth #45035 at the Hilton Convention Center.

NComputing has become the world's leader in ultra low-cost computing with more than one million seats sold in 100 countries. The company's products have been deployed in emerging markets instead of low-cost laptops and netbooks, and are also used widely in U.S. schools and businesses. "We have slashed the cost of computing with our game-changing technology that delivers the full power and functionality of today's applications, but for less than $100 per user," said Stephen Dukker, CEO and chairman of NComputing. "This will become even more important as the global economic crisis puts mounting pressure on IT budgets. We are honored to be recognized by CES and look forward to introducing our newest product to the public. CES is an important venue to introduce new products and forge new channel partnerships as we expand our global presence."

NComputing's compelling solution has attracted key executives from the PC industry to help drive expansion into new geographic markets and industry segments. In November, Mark Beckford, the original architect and driver for Intel's 'World Ahead' program, which developed the Classmate PC laptop, joined NComputing as Vice President of Global Business Development. And in September, Will Poole joined NComputing as co-chairman. Mr. Poole was a corporate vice president at Microsoft and was the co-leader of Microsoft's Unlimited Potential Group -- the unit responsible for expanding computer access to emerging markets.

The NComputing solution is based on a simple fact: today's PCs are so powerful that the vast majority of applications only use a small fraction of the computer's capacity. NComputing technology creates multiple virtual desktops on a single PC so that many users can tap the unused capacity and share it as if each person had their own computer. Each X550 kit delivers a rich multimedia computing experience to five additional users for a list price of only $449. With a second X550 kit, a total of eleven users can share a single PC. Unlike other desktop virtualization solutions, the patented and highly-efficient X550 delivers rich multimedia and full-screen video.

"Our IT budget couldn't keep up with our need for PCs," said Joe Jenkins, IT Director for Natomas Unified School District. "With NComputing, the choice was easy -- we saved on our upfront costs and saved even more on ongoing support and maintenance. We've been using the X300 and now we look forward to deploying the X550 for even better savings and performance."

NComputing's simplicity and ease of use have contributed to rapid worldwide acceptance: anyone with basic PC skills can install an NComputing solution and the savings are immediate. Over 25,000 organizations worldwide have deployed NComputing to slash their computing costs and electric consumption. Each X550 device uses just one watt of electricity, compared to 110 for a standalone PC, making NComputing the greenest computing solution on earth.
