Comstruct Corporation Expands Its Construction Footprint in Africa in February's Issue of African Business Review

NORWICH, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Mar 1, 2012) - Comstruct Corporation is the holding company for Searlcom Construction, Equipt, Smart Building Solutions and Imison. By having these four construction companies under an umbrella banner, Comstruct is able to offer clients a complete turn-key from start to finish. "Comstruct pulls all the skills together from the various companies. The Group's sole objective is to go into the market and to try and make sure that we find or develop products for our sister companies to make sure that they get the right turnover of work," explains the Group's Managing Director (MD), Brendon Malloch-Brown.

Established in 2010, the Comstruct Group grew and diversified from Searlcom Construction, a wholly owned Zimbabwean construction company with over four decades of experience. Today Searlcom Construction remains the largest of the Group's business divisions. It has evolved from a pre-fabricated building company to a fully fledged, conventional construction business responsible for large scale, complex construction projects in the traditional building, civil, commercial, agricultural, mining and industrial sectors.

The uncertain economic climate has been a great challenge for the Comstruct Group as a whole. However, while many companies have been swept away by the global financial crisis, Comstruct Corporation has managed to weather the storm.

The cost of borrowing is very prohibitive to start new projects and companies operating in Zimbabwe are working with interest rates in excess of 20 percent. This means that capital investment projects, which effect construction in the long term are down. The fact it has managed to survive in such tough conditions is a testament to the strength of the Group.
