Comtrend Takes Advantage of Fastest HomePNA Chipset by Sigma Designs for Bonded VDSL2 Gateway

High-Performance Broadband Access Integrated With Superior In-Home Networking Delivers Ultimate Combination at Aggressive Price

MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwire - November 30, 2010) - Sigma Designs (NASDAQ: SIGM), a leading provider of system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for delivering entertainment and control throughout the home, today announced that its HomePNA® chipset is being used in Comtrend's NexusLink VDSL2 bonding gateway. Using Sigma's chipset, Comtrend is giving its customers a single-box solution for triple-play services with double the bandwidth performance of traditional VDSL2 devices at 1/20th the cost of fiber deployments.

"Sigma's cutting-edge technology and competitive pricing helps us give our customers the most efficient and cost-effective home networking solutions available," said John Castreje, general manager for Comtrend North America. "Our NexusLink VDSL2 bonding gateway is a key technology for our customers who want to deliver high-speed services across long distances, and from a central office."

Comtrend's NexusLink VDSL2 bonding gateway is starting customer trials this quarter. Customers started making the switch to VDSL2 during the last few quarters, and bonding is the next step to delivering advanced triple-play play services. Sigma's high performance HomePNA solution provides all the bandwidth these next generation solutions require. HomePNA also offers remote management capabilities with support for TR-069. This worldwide DSL standard, led by the Broadband Forum, ensures remote management of consumer premises equipment. With support for TR-069, Comtrend and other networking solution providers have remote access for management of products such as residential gateways and set-top boxes.

"Sigma has a history of delivering products that enable its customers to create cutting-edge solutions for their customer base," said Gabi Hilevitz, vice president and general manager, Home Connectivity Group at Sigma Designs. "The combination of Comtrend's innovative VDSL2 bonding solution and our high-performance home networking HomePNA technology is a prime example of this."
