Con-way Truckload Opens New Driver Orientation Site in Cookeville, Tenn.

Experienced Drivers Benefit From New Pay and Incentive Package While Training Close to Home

JOPLIN, MO and COOKEVILLE, TN--(Marketwire - February 25, 2008) - Con-way Truckload, a full-truckload carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), today announced the opening of a driver orientation site in Cookeville, Tenn. Con-way Truckload plans to hire more than 250 experienced professional truck drivers in the Greater Cookeville area over the next 12 months. The new site adds to Con-way Truckload's national network of 11 orientation sites and supports the company's expanding customer base in the area -- a result of Con-way Inc.'s acquisition of Contract Freighters, Inc. in August 2007.

Every Con-way Truckload new hire must attend a five-day orientation program to complete the required paperwork and road test, learn about policies and procedures, and take the Department of Transportation-mandated physical exam, among other activities. The Cookeville orientation site, located at the Clarion Inn, 970 South Jefferson Avenue, will serve as the training ground for drivers hired within a 100-mile radius of Cookeville. Prior to the new location, drivers were required to travel to the closest existing sites in Memphis, Tenn., and Atlanta.

"With a growing customer base, improved pay package and new equipment, there has never been a better time to join Con-way Truckload," said Billy Cartright, director of recruiting, Con-way Truckload. "The Cookeville site offers area drivers the opportunity to attend our orientation program in their own backyards before hitting the road with a company recognized for superior service, rewarding career opportunities and strong commitment to safety."

In January, Con-way Truckload announced one of the best pay and benefits packages available in the industry. The company solicited driver input to design the package, which was effective Jan. 1, and includes an increase of $.01 per mile and numerous other driver-requested enhancements.

The company also purchased for delivery in early 2008 300 Freightliner Cascadia and 160 Kenworth T660 truck models, which feature a combination of expanded and studio sleeper accommodations designed expressly for more room and improved driver comfort. Qualified teams joining the company will have the option to drive either truck on a first-come, first-served basis.

Additional Con-way Truckload orientation sites are located in Jacksonville, Fla.; Columbus, Ohio; El Paso, Texas; Charlotte, N.C.; Effingham, Ill.; Laredo, Texas; Birmingham, Ala.; and Dallas, as well as at Con-way Truckload headquarters in Joplin, Mo.
