The Robert L. Conconi Foundation announced today their Conconi Challenge match donation partnership with The Canuck Place Children's Hospice, British Columbia's recognized provincial pediatric palliative care program. Helping to raise much-needed funds, the Robert Conconi foundation will match $200,000 of donations received to Canuck Place until July 31.

The announcement was made in the gardens of Canuck Place during an evening event celebrating the organization's 20-year history in the province providing complex medical care to newborns, children and teens with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

"The opportunity presented to us here at Canuck Place is just a pleasure for our entire family to be involved in," said Robert Conconi, Founder of the Robert L. Conconi Foundation. "We looked at Canuck Place as a very good, deserving organization that needs help and has a clear mission - they want to double the number of children and families they are serving and we want to be part of that transformation with them."

Over 600 newborns, children and teens with life-threatening illnesses and their families receive care from Canuck Place through outreach programs and two provincial hospice locations; Vancouver and Abbotsford. Services include clinical respite and family support, pain and symptom management, 24-hour phone consultation support and in-house clinical care, art and education, recreation therapy, grief and loss counselling and end-of-life care.

"The Conconi Foundation, and their match - the Conconi Canuck Place Challenge - is a big boost for Canuck Place," said Margaret McNeil, Canuck Place CEO. "To have them really spearhead our 20th Anniversary campaign is absolutely amazing. This kind of community leadership plays such an important role in delivering pediatric palliative care to B.C.'s children and we are so grateful to the Conconi family and their Foundation for this."

The Conconi Challenge will match dollar for dollar all donations made to the Canuck Place through July 31. Donations can be made online by visiting canuckplace.org/conconichallenge or calling 1-800-882-2288.

"We would like to ask the people of B.C. to look into their hearts and empathize with the families whose children are going through this terrible time in their lives," said Diane Conconi. "By doing so, you will make twice the impact for the children and families of B.C. and help provide them with the critical care and support they need, when they need it most."
