Conference on Preservation Excellence Adds Distinguished Judicial Panel

PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwire - Aug 15, 2012) - The 2012 Conference on Preservation Excellence announced today the addition of a judicial panel for a session called "The View from the Bench on Preservation." The session will feature the following judges:

• Hon. Paul S. Grewal, U.S. Magistrate Judge, U.S. District for the Northern District of California and who recently wrote Apple, Inc. v. Samsung Elecs. Co. Ltd. (N.D. Cal. July 25, 2012) that addressed serious spoliation issues;
• Hon. Richard A. Kramer, Superior Court of California for the County of San Francisco, including presiding over the Complex Litigation Department; and
• Hon. Ronald J. Hedges, former United States Magistrate Judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and noted e-discovery expert.

The judicial panel will go into detail about what they expect organizations to do to meet a "reasonable and good faith" standard of care, actions that may be "red flags" and how to avoid them, communicating to the court when litigation holds and preservation goes wrong, and how the expectations for preservation are evolving. 

The 2012 Conference on Preservation Excellence will be held September 27-28, 2012 in Portland, Ore. The Conference's goal is to focus on the importance of sound data preservation practices and to emphasize real-world techniques that meet the standards demanded by the courts while minimizing the preservation burden in terms of both costs and labor. Many nationally recognized speakers on electronic discovery will be presenting during the two-day conference.
