CONNECT Solution, Supported by Vangent, Wins Award From Government Open Source Conference

Received for "Best Intergovernmental Collaboration" at GOSCON 2010

ARLINGTON, VA--(Marketwire - November 8, 2010) -  Vangent, Inc., a leading global provider of information management and strategic business process solutions, announced today that CONNECT, an open source software solution that supports health information exchange, received an award from the Government Open Source Conference (GOSCON) for Best Intergovernmental Collaboration. CONNECT is supported by Vangent's Health Information Exchange Open Source (HIEOS™) solution, which enables the secure exchange of health information from multiple and disparate sources.

"This award is a testament to CONNECT's success, and Vangent is honored to play a role in this important program," said Kerry Weems, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Vangent's Health Solutions division. "As more healthcare organizations and physicians move toward electronic health information, it's critical that we have the infrastructure in place to support data exchange. The CONNECT gateway, combined with Vangent's HIEOS™ solution, provides assurance that health information will be transmitted securely and efficiently."

CONNECT uses standards and governance from the National Health Information Network to ensure that health information exchanges (HIEs) are compatible with one another, both locally and at the national level. The program initially contained 20 federal agencies, and it has grown to include agencies, states, nonprofits, the private sector and health organizations, as well.

Vangent currently leads the CONNECT initiative as the Program Management Office for Federal Health Architecture and recently announced that it will continue its leadership of the program. Its HIEOS™ solution was selected by the Office of the National Coordinator as the default XDS.b registry (record locator services) and repository (record storage services) implementation in the CONNECT Gateway in October 2009.

This award complements many other accolades CONNECT has received. Most recently, The Wall Street Journal named the solution one of the most innovative technologies of the year. CONNECT has also been honored by Government Computer News, NextGov, CMIO and InformationWeek, among others.
