ConnectedHealth Reinforces Commitment to Keeping Consumer Data Safe with Completion of Type 1 SOC 2 Examination

Completion Highlights Security of Exchange's Smart Choices™ Marketplace Platform

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - June 16, 2015) - ConnectedHealth, a leading private insurance exchange company that helps employees achieve better health and financial security, today announces its successful completion of the Type 1 Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 examination for its award-winning Smart Choices Marketplace e-commerce benefits platform. SOC 2 reports are attestation examinations that opine on controls at a service organization relevant to the security, availability or processing integrity of a system or the confidentiality or privacy of the information processed for the user entities.

"Completing the SOC 2 examination reinforces ConnectedHealth's high standards and credibility at a key time when many businesses are shifting employee benefits offerings to an exchange model," said ConnectedHealth President Joe Donlan. "We are committed to providing a unique, personalized portfolio management tool to employees, ensuring the security of their private health and financial information throughout the benefits-selection process."

ConnectedHealth was evaluated against five Trust Services principles as part of the examination, which took place on February 20, 2015:

  • Security -- The system is protected against unauthorized access (both physical and logical).
  • Availability -- The system is available for operation and use as committed or agreed.
  • Processing integrity -- System processing is complete, accurate, timely and authorized.
  • Confidentiality -- Information designated as confidential is protected as committed or agreed.
  • Privacy -- Personal information is collected, used, retained, disclosed and destroyed in conformity with the commitments in the entity's privacy notice, and with criteria set forth in generally accepted privacy principles (GAPP) issued by the AICPA and CICA.

ConnectedHealth's Smart Choices Marketplace is designed to help group-eligible employees, part-time staff and 1099 contractors make informed decisions about their benefits options. Typically delivered to employers through brokers, health plans, payroll companies or associations, the marketplace offers personalized guidance, intuitive decision-making tools and live, on-demand assistance for employees.
