Conservation Program Targets Food Service and Food Retailers for Free Energy Efficiency Assessment and Upgrades

YORK REGION, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 26, 2008) - PowerStream and the Ontario Power Authority's (OPA) Conservation Fund, in partnership with Enbridge Gas Distribution and Green$aver, today announced Phase II of their small business No Catch to Conserve pilot program (the program is also known as the "Small Commercial Direct Install Program") providing free energy efficiency assessments to restaurants, green grocers, convenience stores and other food service/food retailers in Aurora.

Each business will receive up to $2,000 in free energy efficiency upgrades to help reduce their electricity costs, reduce demand on energy in their community and help contribute to a cleaner environment. They will also receive information about rebates offered by Enbridge Gas Distribution.

The upgrades required will be based on an initial energy assessment, which will review an eligible business's operations to identify areas that can easily be made more energy efficient. Energy assessors will provide a prioritized list of recommended actions to be implemented by a professional installation crew at no charge to the business.

"The food service and food retail segment have noticeably higher utility costs," said Brian Bentz, President and CEO of PowerStream. "Their broad range of energy-consuming equipment makes their businesses more complex, so upgrading the right energy efficient measures are critical to reducing their utility costs."

"We are pleased to continue our successful collaboration with PowerStream," said Paul Shervill, OPA Vice President of Conservation and Sector Development. "Their enthusiastic support of a food retail/service pilot will increase our conservation efforts and help these businesses save more and contribute to a cleaner environment for all."

Green$aver will continue to deliver the program based on their successful completion of Phase I, as well as their long history of expertise promoting and implementing energy efficiency programs. Their non-profit status and dedication to environmental education has been invaluable to the program and to program participants to create a culture of conservation among the segment.

"The food retail/food service sectors have very different needs than most businesses," said Vladan Veljovic President and CEO of Green$aver. "By allowing for more customized solutions and upgrades, we are sure to make significant improvements that will benefit the business and its surrounding community".

This pilot is limited and being offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Food service businesses in Aurora interested in participating are asked to call 1-877-963-6900.
