Content security gateway market growing rapidly

CAMPBELL, CA--(Marketwire - June 4, 2007) - Content security gateway vendors big and small are performing very well, leading the worldwide market to a sequential 9% gain in the first quarter of 2007, nearing $352 million, reports Infonetics Research in its latest "Content Security Appliances and Software" report.

With many startup companies emerging, and key content security giants like Symantec, McAfee, and Secure Computing renewing their focus on this space, combined with Cisco's flashy entry into the market, worldwide revenue growth is forecast to ramp significantly between 2006 and 2007. By 2010, the market will hit $2.5 billion, a 5-year CAGR of 22%.

"In 2007, we're starting to see some convergence of single-function platforms into several larger categories: Web security gateways, messaging security gateways, and anti-virus/spyware gateways, in addition to vendors building products that handle all 3 broad categories of functionality," said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst at Infonetics Research.
