Cooley Announces 2012 Diversity Fellowship Application Process

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 2, 2012) - Cooley LLP announced today it is accepting applications for its 2012 Diversity Fellowship program. First-year law students who demonstrate a commitment to promoting diversity in their communities are invited to apply.

Award recipients will receive a paid Summer Associate position and an award of up to $15,000 to assist with law school tuition. Individuals selected will be announced this fall, with the Summer Associate positions to start following the successful completion of the recipients' 2L year.

"Cultivating a more diverse law firm is a combination of many efforts and initiatives throughout the year, but certainly providing support to diverse law students through this fellowship is an important component of our plan and one we are pleased to again announce," said Cooley partner Whitty Somvichian, member of the firm's Diversity Committee.

Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an ABA-accredited law school and with an anticipated graduation date of 2014 at the time of application and not have received a paid diversity award with another law firm paid between September 1, 2012 and August 31, 2013. They must be able to participate in and complete Cooley's 2013 summer program.
