Cooley LLP announced today that it launched PTAB Digest, the first online database that tracks and analyzes key decisions issued in inter partes reviews, post-grant reviews, covered business method reviews, and other post-grant proceedings by the U.S. Patent Office's Patent Trial and Appeal Board ("PTAB"). Recognizing the tremendous value of such data, Cooley is making this proprietary database available to the public at no cost.

"PTAB Digest is a terrific resource for the legal and academic communities," said Jim Brogan, Chair of Cooley's intellectual property practice. "Since the passage of the America Invents Act, Cooley has been absolutely committed to keeping abreast of new developments in the Patent Office, which in turn helps our clients navigate this evolving landscape."

PTAB Digest is the product of the review by Cooley attorneys of literally thousands of PTAB decisions and the selection and annotation of the most important ones. The resulting Digest allows users to locate easily and understand the PTAB decisions that are most helpful in explaining and applying the law. The Digest's editorial board, which is led by Cooley partners Wayne Stacy and Orion Armon, ranks the importance of each annotation and categorizes them by topic, thereby facilitating targeted research. By updating the Digest on an ongoing basis, Cooley can continue to provide comprehensive coverage of the PTAB's decisions as the Patent Office refines the procedural and substantive rules it applies while adjudicating post-grant proceedings.

Cooley has an active Patent Office litigation practice, representing and advising clients in all types of post-grant proceedings. For more information, visit www.cooley.com/patentofficelit
