CooperVision Uses Opengear for Remote Access Around the World

SANDY, UT--(Marketwire - Nov 9, 2011) - Opengear (www.opengear.com), provider of next generation console server and remote management solutions, today announced that CooperVision, one of the world's leading manufacturers of soft contact lenses and a unit of The Cooper Companies, Inc. (NYSE: COO), is using the Opengear IM4200 in several major locations around the world and is planning to provide console connectivity via deployment of the Opengear products in all CooperVision datacenters and wiring closets.

"We are impressed with the functionality as well as the performance of the Opengear IM4200. We use it to do things we couldn't do before with other products," said Alexander Metlitsky, Manager, Global Network Services, CooperVision. "With Opengear's remote management we manage Cisco equipment, electrical equipment, Riverbed, F5 and Bluecoat devices. One of the key advantages of the device is that it gives visibility into the network via auxiliary means, such as a VPN protected cellular connection, during instances when the physical network links to the buildings are down."

CooperVision distributes high-quality lenses virtually everywhere contact lenses are worn from a network of facilities in 12 countries across five continents. CooperVision produces a full array of monthly, two-week and daily disposable contact lenses, all featuring advanced materials and optics. CooperVision has a strong heritage of solving the toughest vision challenges; such as astigmatism, presbyopia and ocular dryness; and offers the most complete collection of spherical, toric and multifocal products available.

"Global companies require secure and dependable access to their large network of devices spread around the globe," said Todd Rychecky, vice president of sales, Opengear North America. "The IM4200 gives CooperVision the most advanced GSM cellular features on the market today for proactive out-of-band management of their business critical network infrastructure."
