Copernic First to Launch Privacy Desktop Search

Distributed by ComputerBild magazine in its latest issue

HAMBURG, GERMANY--(Marketwire - April 17, 2009) - Copernic Inc., (the "Company"), (NASDAQ:CNIC), today launched a special Privacy Edition of its award winning Copernic Desktop Search (CDS) product in cooperation with ComputerBild magazine and, a European search engine with a special focus on privacy.

Searching your computer for stored information can be a painstaking process. Most computers' internally built in search function takes a long time to complete and often produces poor results. The award winning Copernic Desktop Search solves that problem very efficiently. Whether you are searching your hard disk for email, music, photos, internet favourites, videos or other data, Copernic finds it in seconds.

But as your computer may contain highly privacy-sensitive data, it is essential you can fully trust the software that is being used. No one else but yourself should be able to view the personal data on your computer.

"That's exactly what this special Privacy Edition of Copernic desktop search guarantees." says Dennis Dion, Vice President of Sales at Copernic. "It has many special features to keep your sensitive personal information safe and your privacy protected."

No registration or user identification will take place. Statistics will not be gathered. Your searches will not be logged or transmitted, and web search results are delivered by, "the world's most private search engine" and the only search engine that was awarded the European Privacy Seal. "We were very pleased to work together with Copernic on this project." says Robert E.G.Beens, CEO of Ixquick, who played a key role in the creation of the new version.

The Copernic desktop search privacy edition is launched by ComputerBild magazine and made available on CD-ROM as a part of this week's ComputerBild issue 09/09. Over 800,000 copies are expected to be distributed.

"Computerbild is always happy to provide their readers with tailor made software and fresh ideas", says Dirk Kuchel, editor for special projects at Computerbild. "Privacy issues in the internet are becoming more and more important. The point is to offer simple solutions to protect your private data. With the integration of the privacy version of Copernic Desktop Search and the Ixquick search engine into the Computerbild Toolbar, we follow this idea."

"This new product is only available for the privacy-conscious German market for now", says Dion, "Copernic now offers the only desktop search solution that meets German users' strict privacy expectations."
