VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 4, 2013) -

Copper Cowboy Resources Inc. ("Copper Cowboy" or the "Company") (CNSX:CCQ) announces that field crews, working on behalf of the Company, have initiated geological mapping and sampling on the West Hills Ruvu River Property (formerly referred to as the Handeni Gold Property) in accordance with the recommendations set out in the National Instrument 43-101 technical report prepared by Craig Alford, P.Geo., the Company's independent geologist.
The field crews reported observing artisanal gold miners digging for alluvial gold on the drainages on and adjacent to the property. The workings, which in some cases were only a few weeks days old, will be inspected in detail as the Company's crews seek to trace the mineralization into the associated rock, which surrounds a river plain much like that found in other gold rich areas in Tanzania.
The results from the initial program will help prepare the property for geophysical surveying and trenching, which is expected to commence in early 2013.
The Company also announces that Michael Mulberry was appointed as the Company's interim chief financial officer.
On Behalf of the Board of Directors,
