Corel Corporation Names Blaine Mathieu General Manager, Digital Imaging

Experienced Industry Executive Will Lead Corel's Global Expansion in the
Fast-Growing Digital Imaging and Photography Sector

Corel Corporation today announced that it has named Blaine Mathieu General Manager of its Digital Imaging business, a key appointment that will help Corel expand its growing presence worldwide with its award-winning Paint Shop Family product line. In this role, Mathieu will drive several strategic initiatives including the release of next-generation products, new channel programs and international expansion opportunities. Mathieu will report directly to Jacqueline Maartense, Corel's Executive Vice President of Global Marketing.

A former Gartner Group analyst and a key driver of research and marketing initiatives during his tenure at Adobe Systems, Mathieu is a respected software industry veteran with more than twenty years of high technology marketing, sales, product development and market research experience. He joined Corel in 2002 as Director of Strategy and Market Intelligence. In that capacity, Mathieu developed and implemented new product management and strategic initiatives which contributed significantly to Corel's growth and subsequent corporate turnaround. Most recently, Mathieu served as Corel's Vice President of Integrated Marketing leading the Company's demand generation and channel marketing efforts.

According to InfoTrends, a leading market research firm, the worldwide market for digital cameras is expected to grow by 20% year over year through 2008. In addition, 55% of all digital camera owners report purchasing additional software for managing and enhancing their photos. Mathieu's appointment is expected to help Corel further increase its reach and penetration in this fast-growing digital photography and image editing market.

Prior to joining Corel, Mathieu was a senior marketing executive at Adobe, where he drove critical marketing, product and sales strategies. Previously, he served as Vice President of Marketing at, a San Francisco-based provider of business-to-consumer (B2C) portal solutions. He also served as a Senior Analyst at the Gartner Group, a leading IT consulting and market research firm, where he created and published its first worldwide B2C e-commerce analyses and forecasts. In addition, Mathieu founded Turning Point Software, Inc., a successful provider of PC-based asset management software to small and medium sized businesses.

Mathieu received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and a MBA degree from Athabasca University Centre for Innovative Management in Canada.
