Coretec Inc. Announces RoHS Compliance Well Ahead of EU Deadline

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 19, 2005) - Coretec Inc. (TSX:CYY) is pleased to announce it is now compliant with the European Union's (EU) directive on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) for mainstream printed circuit board (PCB) product manufactured in its Toronto operation.

RoHS is the directive restricting the amount of hazardous substances in electronic-based products shipping in to the European Union effective July 1st, 2006. The hazardous substances which will have their levels restricted include lead, hexavelant chromium, cadmium, and mercury. The directive is aimed at reducing the amount of hazardous substances in waste disposal sites by limiting the use of such substances in electronic equipment.

Commented Paul Langston, Coretec's Chairman, CEO and President -

"Over the past 12 months we have invested significant resources in terms of materials research, information system upgrades and process verifications in support of this key initiative affecting the complete electronic product supply chain."

"It is an investment we believe few printed circuit operations will be able to duplicate in advance of the July 1, 2006 deadline, and perhaps well beyond that date."

"Further, we have invested heavily in our Field Application Engineering organization over time and this, combined with the accelerating impact of RoHS, has positioned Coretec amongst the leaders in the PCB segment to provide customers the value-add solutions for their compliance requirements."

"To this end, we have a number of key clients who are requiring compliance by the end of 2005 in order to ensure uninterrupted shipment of their products into the EU. As such we are very pleased with our ability to satisfy their needs well in advance of this timeline."

Coretec's Denver and Cleveland operations, with business more weighted to Government Military and Aerospace end markets, are scheduled to be in compliance by early 2006.

Coretec is one of the leading designers and fabricators of printed circuit boards for the prototype and quick turnaround production segments of the North American and European markets. Coretec distinguishes itself from its competitors by providing complete printed circuit board solutions, including design, advanced prototyping and quick turnaround production across an outstanding range of product technologies and approvals.

This news release may include statements about future expectations, plans and prospects that may constitute forward-looking statements. Such statements include the statement that Coretec's Denver and Cleveland operations will be RoHS compliant by early 2006. This statement is based on Coretec's current plans. It is possible that such operations would not be RoHS compliant by early 2006 for a number of reasons including, a change in operation priorities, unexpected technical complications, inability to source RoHS compliant raw materials, product complexity, material cost fluctuations and limited availability of raw materials.
