Cornerstone Standards Council Commends the Liberal Government's Response on the ARA Review

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Feb. 21, 2014) - Cornerstone Standards Council (CSC) supports the direction the Ontario Government is proposing to take in response to the Standing Committee's review of the Aggregate Resources Act. Through the review, many individuals and organizations raised substantive issues regarding aggregate extraction in Ontario. As an organization working to develop voluntary environmental and social certification standards for aggregates, CSC's role is not to comment on policy. We do, however, recognize the importance of engaging with local communities, the aggregate industry, municipalities, conservation organizations and First Nations to find workable solutions to longstanding challenges and would like to commend the government for this proposal. The Government's commitment to engage with key stakeholders and First Nations to tackle key issues raised in the Standing Committee's report is an important step forward.
