Corona Labs Releases Its Mobile Game Development Platform for Free

Allows Mobile Developers to Build Mobile Games and Apps 10 Times Faster Without Incurring Monthly Fees

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 2, 2015) - Corona Labs, the leading 2D mobile game development platform provider, announces today the opening of Corona SDK for free, replacing its paid model. More than 300,000 developers worldwide already use Corona to develop top mobile games and apps.

Corona is designed to enable rapid and easy 2D development and allows mobile developers to build mobile games and apps 10 times faster. The platform allows developers to start coding within minutes of downloading and see results instantly, and also offers a code-free visual builder. Corona supports all major platforms including iOS, Android, Kindle, Windows Phone 8 and, coming soon, Mac OS X and Windows desktop apps.

"We are passionate about enabling all developers to build the best mobile games quickly and easily," said Walter Luh, Fuse's VP of Technology, Palo Alto and founder of Corona Labs. "Developing games doesn't have to be expensive. Our goal is to empower the entire community, from small indies to large publishers, to launch successful games and grow their companies without having to pay for our development platform."

To make Corona more accessible to the development community, Corona SDK's Starter, Basic, and Pro tiers will be replaced by a single free product with all the functionality of Pro. Previously a Pro subscription cost $600 annually per developer, adding significant costs for development studios.

With this move will come additional features and functionality, and two new supported platforms: Mac OS X and Windows desktop. The Corona platform will also give developers free access to Fuse Powered's monetization engine, letting them understand player behavior in real-time and deliver targeted in-app purchase offers, dynamic rewarded video and ad offers based on what their players want and need in game. Developers will also be able to mediate their own ad networks and leverage AdRally, Fuse's competitive ad marketplace. Select Corona developers are already in private beta with Fuse Powered. Like Corona SDK, Fuse's monetization platform is also free to use.

Corona SDK is now available for free at www.coronalabs.com.
