CORRECTION FROM SOURCE: Bennett Environmental Announces Plant Start Up in September and New Soils Contracts

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 14, 2007) -

The following corrects and replaces the release posted at 08:58 am ET on August 14, 2007 under the correct ticker symbol of BEV on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Bennett Environmental Inc. (TSX:BEV) (the "Company" or "BEI") today announced that it will restart operations at its Saint Ambroise soil treatment facility in September 2007. The Company also announced that it has been awarded two new contracts that will begin shipping soil to the Saint Ambroise facility in August. The new contracts are to treat dioxin contaminated soils originating from Louisiana and Illinois. Inventory accumulated during the planned shut down in July and August and these new contracts will be processed at the Saint Ambroise facility upon commencement of operations in September.

These two new projects, along with current projects in New Jersey, represent up to $5.9 million of revenue for Saint Ambroise over the balance of 2007. This revenue opportunity does not include any further contracts. The majority of this tonnage is from U.S. government funded clean up projects; however BEI has secured the projects working with different environmental contractors.

Jack Shaw, BEI's CEO, commented: "We believe the awarding of these contracts at this time is evidence that the level of activity in the market is increasing after a very slow start to the year. As these contracts are with different service companies it shows our strategy of working with multiple partners to fill the order book is working and bodes well for the future".

The Company reiterated its intention to operate its soil treatment facility on a campaign basis in order to match supply with demand for its soil treatment capabilities. Given the long sales cycle and the demand for thermal soil treatment the Company has decided it is not efficient to operate the facility on a continuous basis, but rather to operate the facility on a campaign basis.
