CORRECTION FROM SOURCE/CED: Minister Saada Announces
$240,000 in Funding to Extend the Rural Enterprise
Program

BAIE-COMEAU, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - March 21, 2005) - Please take note
that there was a mistake in the English version of the above-mentioned
Press Release. The sentence that read "Funding for this initiative was
provided for in the March 2004 federal budget" should have read as
follows : "Funding for this initiative was provided for in the February
2005 federal budget". Here follows the complete new version.

The Honourable Jacques Saada, Minister of Canada Economic Development
and Minister responsible for the Francophonie, took the opportunity
while in Baie-Comeau last March 17 to announce a $240,000 financial
contribution to three North Shore Community Futures Development
Corporations (CFDCs) to ensure the continued operation of the Rural
Enterprise Program until March 31, 2006.

"The Rural Enterprise Program is an important lever of development and
this one-year extension will enable the CFDCs to pursue their efforts to
preserve and enhance the social and economic vitality of small North
Shore communities. These CFDCs are key economic development partners for
the Agency and we are extremely proud of the hard work and commitment
they bring to communities in the North Shore," stated the Minister.

This additional funding will enable the Manicouagan, Haute Cote-Nord and
Cote-Nord CFDCs to pursue their activities to promote entrepreneurship
and economic leadership and to support project startups in small
communities with populations of less than 10,000 inhabitants. To date,
the Rural Enterprise Program has contributed to the realization of 53
projects and ensured the creation and maintenance of 49 jobs in the
North Shore region.

Canada Economic Development's mandate is to promote the economic
development of the regions of Quebec. Primarily through financial
assistance programs, the Agency elicits and supports the implementation
of economic development projects. The two priorities the Agency has set
itself are to foster innovation and the knowledge economy in each region
of Quebec, and to help communities that are having difficulty adjusting
to the new economy. In this way, the Agency contributes to the
attainment of the Government of Canada's objective of building the 21st
Century economy.

Funding for this initiative was provided for in the February 2005
federal budget.
