Clear Channel Outdoor (NYSE:CCO) has won the 11-year street furniture advertising contract for Rome. Under the contract with the municipal transport body ATAC, Clear Channel Outdoor will provide and maintain 600 new bus shelters (over 1200 advertising panels) in the Italian capital. The new contract will run until 2016.

This new contract is in addition to an existing contract with ATAC, which includes 400 bus shelters (950 advertising panels) and 8000 bus stops in Rome.

Paul Meyer, Clear Channel's Global President, commented, "This win significantly strengthens our position in Europe following major street furniture wins in London, Lille and Bordeaux, France, and Verona, Italy. With Clear Channel Outdoor's award of the London and Washington, D.C. Street furniture contracts last year, the addition of Rome gives us three consecutive victories in major world capitals. We are committed to developing partnerships with cities that increase their revenue opportunities and provide innovative services for their citizens. For our advertisers, this win means an enhanced choice of high-quality advertising sites in one of Europe's greatest cities."

Clear Channel Outdoor will install the Enthoven bus shelter model, created by the renowned Belgian designers Enthoven Associates. The shelters have been chosen to complement Rome's historic streetscape, and in a first for the capital, a number will carry electronic information to assist the travelling public.

Coline McConville, Clear Channel's CEO Europe, said, "This win advances Clear Channel Outdoor's market leading position in Italy and as the sole provider of street furniture advertising opportunities in Rome. Our close working relationship with Rome's municipal transport company ATAC and our reputation for providing well-maintained, stylish street furniture throughout the world has helped secure this important contract."
