CORRECTION FROM SOURCE/Media Advisory: Lois Brown Details Government of Canada's Response to Drought in East Africa

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 16, 2011) -

This document corrects and replaces the media advisory that was sent today at 6:17 PM EDT.

On behalf of the Honourable Beverley J. Oda, Minister of International Cooperation, Lois Brown, Parliamentary Secretary to Minister Oda, will announce the details of Canada's recent $50 million commitment to drought-affected East Africa. Representatives from the Humanitarian Coalition and members of the Somali-Canadian community will join Parliamentary Secretary Brown to promote the East Africa Drought Relief Fund announced by Minister Oda on July 22, in addition to the $50 million dollar commitment.

For every dollar individual Canadians contribute to registered Canadian charities responding to the East Africa drought, from July 6 until September 16, 2011, the Government of Canada will set aside one dollar for the Fund.
