CORRECTION FROM SOURCE: Northern Star Dicovers New Gold Zones at Depth

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 30, 2006) -

In the press release issued earlier today on behalf of Northern Star Mining Corp. (TSX VENTURE:NSM), the fourth number under the "To (ft)" column was incorrect. The value was changed from 4,443.5 to 4,843.5. The updated release now follows.

Northern Star Mining Corp. is pleased to announce initial and partial drill assay results from its deep drill hole program carried out on its wholly owned Midway project, located 16 km west of Val-d'Or, Quebec.

The drill hole, approximately 8,000 feet long, is the deepest drill hole ever attempted and carried out in this area of the Cadillac Break, and attained a vertical true depth of some 5,300 feet.

The drill hole was designed to explore for new gold mineralized structures at significant depths below the deepest known gold mineralization on the project (Malartic Goldfields Mine 2,700 foot level).

The initial drill assay results have confirmed the discovery of 5 new gold bearing horizons, with further core assays pending.

Drill results show:

Hole From (ft) To (ft) Length (ft) Gold Gold Type

MGFD0601 3,814.8 3,816.0 1.2 4.68 0.137 Gabbro

(a) Samples were sent to ALS Chemex in Val-d'Or, Quebec and were assayed using a 30 gram sample with fire assay finish. Pulps and rejects were recovered and returned for future check and verification purposes. Eugene Gauthier, p.eng./geol., is the qualified person on the project.

The Company is very excited by these initial assay results as they have not only resulted in the discovery of 5 new gold bearing horizons at depth, but have confirmed the continuity of the gold mineralization mined at the past producing Malartic Goldfields mine located over 1,000 feet above.

These partial results (further assays are pending) confirm the significant potential of the Midway project. Results from past drilling and the present drill hole show that the gold bearing horizons mined at Malartic Goldfields (2.0 millions ounces produced 1938-1960 M.R.N. 32 C/4) and those discovered during the Company's drill programs are open both laterally along strike and now to considerable depths.

The mineralization encountered in this drill hole appears identical in nature to that previously encountered during drilling and past mining activities on the Midway project.

Mineralization at the Midway project consists of gold associated with pyrite, with the gold occurring as very fine free gold particles in association with pyrite grains. The amount of gold appears as a direct function of the amount of pyrite.

Gold is contained in both porphyry type intrusive bodies, which may be controlling features of the mineralization, and within discrete lenses of gabbro, located adjacent and parallel to the porphyry bodies. The gabbro lenses exhibit classic en echelon structure both along strike and dip.

The presence of gold in the porphyry intrusive is also very significant, as to date, when it occurs, it is indicative of gold mineralization in the adjacent gabbro lenses.

Finally the drill hole was also designed to ascertain rock quality at these depths. Core examination has revealed that the rock quality is excellent, with average core recoveries exceeding 96 %.

Further assays are pending from this hole and will be released as available.
