Correctional Service of Canada: Escape From the Stan Daniels Healing Center

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - July 18, 2007) - Correctional Service of Canada: At approximately 2350 during a scheduled count at the Stan Daniels Healing Center on July 17, 2007 it was determined that offender Ryan Kachuk could not be found in the building.

Ryan Kachuk is a 28 year old offender serving a six year sentence for Robbery with Threats of Violence, Possess Break In Instruments, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under and Utter Forged Documents. He is 170 cm tall and weighs 72 kgs. His date of birth is January 23, 1979.

The Stan Daniels Healing Center will be working closely with Edmonton Police Service to apprehend this offender. Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of this offender is asked to call the Edmonton City Police.

The Stan Daniels Healing Center is operated by Native Counselling Services of Alberta and is located at 9516- 101 Avenue in downtown Edmonton. Native Counselling Services of Alberta provides a range of spiritual and correctional programs to both offenders on conditional release and minimum security inmates through agreement with the Federal Minister of Public Safety.

At the time of the incident there were 20 inmates and 38 conditionally released offenders residing at the Stan Daniels Healing Center.

This incident will be closely reviewed by the Correctional Service of Canada and Native Counselling Services of Alberta.
