Correctional Service of Canada: Lockdown at Regional Psychiatric Centre

REGIONAL PSYCHIATRIC CENTRE, SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwire - Feb. 13, 2009) - Inmates at Regional Psychiatric Centre (RPC) have been locked down to facilitate a search of the facility.

The lockdown has been in place since 6 p.m. February 12. The Correctional Service of Canada works to ensure the continued safety and security of the public, staff and patients.

The facility will reopen once institutional management determines that it is safe to do so.

The Regional Psychiatric Centre is a multi-level psychiatric hospital located in Saskatoon, SK, and operated by the Correctional Service of Canada. The Centre provides assessment, intensive programming, treatment for mental disorders and 24-hour medical care to patients. There are currently 183 patients receiving assessments and/or treatment at RPC.
